The Taliban has banned the purchase and sale of dollars in Afghanistan due to the sharp depreciation of the Afghan currency in recent days.
The report was published by the Afghan Aamaj News Agency.
The exchange rate of the dollar in the country’s largest currency market in Kabul, Saray Shahzade, rose from 80 afghanis in early August to 114 afghanis.
On October 6, the Central Bank issued a decree that all trade operations in the country should be carried out only in Afghanistan. Taliban officials later said they would punish Afghans who use foreign currency in economic transactions.
Despite the current measures taken by the Taliban, the economic situation in the country remains extremely difficult.
