Former Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Army General Georgi Kalandadze has been detained in Germany.
The general was detained in Berlin at the request of the Georgian authorities, the report said, citing the Mtavari Archi TV channel.
Kalandadze headed the General Staff of Georgia from October 8 to November 11, 2012, and was appointed to this post by former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
The reason for his detention is still unknown. However, a criminal case was opened against G. Kalandadze in Georgia in 2012 on charges of abuse of office. Kalandadze himself has been working in Ukraine in recent years. He arrived in Ukraine in the summer of 2014 with a small group of Georgian soldiers.
