The Omicron variant of the new strain of coronavirus infection has become dominant in Ireland, rapidly outperforming other strains.
According to the report, the Ministry of Health announced this.
It was noted that today alone, 5,124 cases of new coronavirus (COVID-19) infection have been registered in the last day, 436 patients have been hospitalized, 107 of them in intensive care units.
The ministry said Omicron strains were found in about 52 percent of those infected.
“It only took two weeks for the omicron strain of the coronavirus to become dominant in Ireland, which only shows how highly effective this variant is,” the statement said.
