Today, a solemn jubilee event was held on the campus of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).
According to SOCAR, the anniversary event began with the commemoration of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our lands and the sound of the national anthem. Then, a video entitled “BANM – 10 years” was shown, reflecting the views of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on BANM at the opening of the campus on May 1, 2017.
Opening the event, rector of the Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov said: They continue their education in prestigious universities of the world, represent Azerbaijan in giant companies. I am very proud to say that the Baku Higher Oil School has developed as an innovative educational institution equipped with the latest technology and professional teaching staff, has risen to the leadership in the ranking of Azerbaijani higher education institutions, and is the first in the Republic in terms of average admission.
Addressing the students of the University, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said: “Today, at this solemn anniversary ceremony, we can say with confidence that the Baku Higher Oil School is already recognized as the most advanced higher education institution in its field in our country. I have no doubt that many of the future leaders of our company, our glorious oil industry, are among you. Under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, we have succeeded in transforming SOCAR from a local oil company into a transnational energy company. Now you have wider horizons. I believe that you will continue your success in education in your future production activities, go further than today’s generation of Azerbaijani oil workers, and achieve greater success. ”
By the order of R. Abdullayev dated December 20, 2021, the rector of the Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov and professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering Siyavush Azakov were awarded the badge of “Honorary Oilman” by SOCAR, Professor Fuad Valiyev and associate professor Khanum Jafarova. They were awarded the “Decree of Honor”. The awards were presented by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev wished success to the Baku Higher Oil School, noting that the Higher School has achieved great success in a short period of 10 years, as well as successful cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov praised the activities of the Baku Higher Oil School, congratulated on the 10th anniversary and stressed the readiness of the Ministry to cooperate with BANM.
Welcoming the participants, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov praised the Baku Higher Oil School as a modern higher education institution, noting that the High School provides education in important specialties for the future of the country and the activity of such an educational institution in the country is proud.
Guldana Hidayatli, one of the successful graduates of BANM, the head of the Quality Assurance Department at the University, one of the winners of the “Rise” competition, and Rafael Abdullayev, working on the modernization project of SOCAR’s Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, shared their memories of student life.
At the end of the ceremony, an appeal was read to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of SOCAR’s Baku Higher Oil School.
President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the campus of SOCAR’s Baku Higher Oil School, the only fully English-language technical university in Azerbaijan, on May 1, 2017. In the year of the first admission, BANM became the leader among 51 higher education institutions in the ranking table compiled by the State Examination Center (SEC). He currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Automation Engineering, Information Security, Computer Engineering and Business Administration, and a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Automation Engineering and Business Administration (MBA). Admission is carried out on. The Higher School offers doctoral degrees and re-education in oil and gas engineering. The average admission score of SOCAR to the Baku Higher Oil School is 650 and above. This is the highest figure in Azerbaijan. In the 2021/2022 academic year, 33 out of 102 recipients of Presidential Scholarships across the country are BANM students. This is a record in the history of education in Azerbaijan. Currently, the number of Presidential Scholars studying at the University is 205 people.
