The Spanish government will reintroduce the wearing of masks on the streets due to the growing number of people infected with the coronavirus.
The report was published by El Pais newspaper on Wednesday.
The statement came from Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at a meeting with regional leaders. An emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers is expected to be held on December 23 to approve the relevant decree.
According to La Vanguardia, the prime minister also suggested using the military to monitor the spread of the infection and vaccinate.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 5.5 million cases of infection have been detected in Spain, and more than 88.8 thousand patients have died. At the end of December 2020, a vaccination campaign was launched in the country. Currently, about 90% of Spaniards over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
Currently, the rate of infection in Spain has increased again.
