Officers of the Mingachevir City Police Department detained people suspected of counterfeiting money.
The Sheki regional group of the Interior Ministry’s Press Service told Report that on December 23, two taxi drivers and a bakery received appeals to the 102 Call Center of the Interior Ministry and the police department to issue counterfeit 20 manat banknotes.
As a result of urgent search operations, Shamil Musayev, a resident of Barda region, and Ilaha Mammadova, a resident of Aghdam, were detained on suspicion of issuing counterfeit money. During the inspection of I.Mammadova’s rented apartment in Mingachevir, printer equipment and 49 counterfeit 50, 20, 5, 1 manat banknotes were found and seized as material evidence.
During the investigation, it was found out that Musayev printed counterfeit money on a printer and distributed it between Ilaha and himself. The banknotes were then presented to taxi drivers and shops separately.
A criminal case has been launched at the Mingachevir City Police Department, and necessary investigation is underway.
