Greece has declared a day of national mourning over the death of former President Karolos Papoulias on Sunday.

According to the report, the government has decided to declare a national mourning period for three days, including the day of Karolos Papoulias’ death and burial.
“In addition, from today (December 26) until his funeral, the flags of government agencies will be lowered throughout the country,” the agency said.
The burial of the papule will be carried out at public expense. “By the decision of the government, a funeral will be held in honor of the head of state,” the statement said.
Former Greek President Karolos Papoulias has died at the age of 92. Papoulias was president from 2005 to 2015, a prominent representative of the All-Greek Socialist Movement Party, and foreign minister (1985-1989 and 1993-1996).
Papoulias was also an active participant in the struggle against the fascist junta of “black colonels” in Greece (1967-1974).
