The death toll in protests against the military coup in Sudan has risen to 54.
The statement came from the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to the committee, 23-year-old Abdullah Abbas, who was shot during demonstrations against the military coup on December 30, died.
The statement said that with the death of Abbas, the number of people killed in the protests on December 30, 2021 reached 6, and the total number of confirmed deaths from October 25, 2021 to date reached 54.
Large-scale demonstrations took place in various parts of the African country on December 19 last year, the third anniversary of the beginning of the protests that resulted in the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir’s 30-year rule. The protesters demanded the formation of a civil administration in the country.
