A group of Defense Ministry officers, participants of the Great Patriotic War, public figures, as well as family members of the National Hero visited the grave of the National Hero of Azerbaijan, Major General Polad Hashimov on his birthday.

Major General P. Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975 in Vendam village of Gabala region. Since he moved to Sumgayit with his family, he received secondary education in schools No. 28 and 34 in Sumgayit. Then he entered the current Azerbaijan Higher Military School named after Heydar Aliyev to pursue his military career and successfully graduated from this special educational institution.
Having risen from platoon commander to the highest military rank of “major general”, P. Hashimov served in the frontline and made efforts to properly fulfill the orders and tasks.
According to the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated April 20, 2016, P. Hashimov was awarded for his special services in maintaining the territorial integrity of our country during the April 2016 battles He was awarded the Order “For Service to the Fatherland” of the 3rd degree.
On June 24, 2019, Polad Hashimov was awarded the highest military rank of Major General by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
P. Hashimov was heroically killed on July 14, 2020 while preventing enemy provocations in the direction of Tovuz region of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border. He was posthumously awarded the honorary title of “National Hero of Azerbaijan” by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 9, 2020.
On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, condolences were expressed to the family of the martyr, flowers were laid at his grave, and his memory was honored.
