Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of coronavirus infections in Europe has exceeded one hundred million.

It was noted that as of Saturday evening, January 1, 100,074,753 people in 52 countries and the region from the Atlantic coast to Azerbaijan and Russia were infected with the coronavirus. This is more than a third of the 288,279,803 infections registered worldwide since the beginning of the pandemic in late 2019.
In the last seven days alone, more than 4.9 million cases have been reported in European regions, up 59 percent from the previous week. During the week, a maximum number of infections was registered in 17 European countries.
According to the publication, the number of deaths due to the negative effects of the coronavirus in Europe has decreased. Last week, an average of 3,413 infected people died a day. This is seven percent lower than the previous week.
