The new Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) has taken office.
Mohamed Hamel has been appointed to the post, GECF reports.
He took office today. Hamel is originally from Algeria and was elected Secretary General for two years at the 23rd meeting of GECF ministers in Bolivia on November 16 last year.
Prior to this appointment, Hamel held various positions in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Algerian government.
