The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has started a preliminary hearing on the criminal case of Mansur Jumayev and Nasir Jahangirov, accused of participating in an illegal armed group.
According to the report, during the trial chaired by Judge Azer Pashayev, the profiles of the accused were clarified.
The court hearing is scheduled for January 14.
It should be noted that M.Jumayev and N.Jahangirov were arrested as a result of operative-investigative measures carried out by the State Security Service in 2021.
Thus, the investigation revealed that Azerbaijani citizens – Jumayev Mansur Mammadali, born in 1980, and Jahangirov Nasir Gachay, born in 1971, participated in the activities of the armed group outside the country, which is not provided by the legislation of the state and Azerbaijan.
According to the investigation, M.Jumayev and N.Jahangirov left the country in 2011 to join an illegal armed group and illegally entered the territory of a foreign state and joined a criminal group led by a person nicknamed “Saladin”. They took part in combat exercises and operations as part of that armed group.
M.Jumayev and N.Jahangirov were charged under Articles 12.1 and 279.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (participation in the activities of armed groups outside the Republic of Azerbaijan) and were remanded in custody.
The men confessed to the crime during the investigation and expressed their sincere remorse.
