“Report” reports that
Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev signed decrees on the application of curfew in Mangistau region and Almaty. Entry and exit to Almaty is already prohibited.
The curfew will last from 23:00 in the evening to 7:00 in the morning. Mass rallies were also banned in Almaty and Mangistau oblasts.
It should be noted that protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2 in a number of settlements, including Zhanaozen and Mangistau regions. Residents protested against the sharp rise in the price of liquefied gas. Thus, the cost of liquefied gas in the country has been raised from 60 to 120 tenge.
Protests continue in the Mangistau region, although the Kazakh government has reduced the price of liquefied natural gas to 50 tenge ($ 0.11 or 20 kopecks) per liter.
