Employees of the Balakan District Police Department conducted a series of operations to expose those involved in the illicit trafficking of various drugs and psychotropic substances. As a result of the measures taken, 9 people were arrested and prosecuted, and more than 6 kilograms of drugs were seized.
According to the Sheki regional group of the Interior Ministry’s Press Service, a resident of Tulu village, Elshan Orujov, was detained during the operation and marijuana was found during a personal search. As a result of ongoing measures, it was established that the detainee received drugs from Shahmurad Bodurov, a resident of the region, and Sh. Bodurov from Ramazan Umayev, a resident of Garakli village, for AZN 500 per 100 grams. Both were detained and searched during a personal search of dried marijuana, as well as money from drug trafficking. During a search of Umayev’s aunt’s house, which was under his control but where no one lived, 3 kg 635 grams of marijuana were found and packed.
During the next operation, police detained Rasim Aliyev, Taleh Omarov and Tural Arbashiyev. 455 grams of marijuana were found in R. Aliyev, 196 grams in T. Omarov, and methamphetamine, a psychotropic substance known as “paty”, was found in T. Arbashiyev.
As a result of other search operations carried out by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Drug Enforcement Group, three more people – Saleh Bayramov, Samir Ayvazov and Sakhavat Gadirov, who had been convicted several times for the same crime, were detained. During a search of Saleh Bayramov’s residence in the village of Mahamalar, about 400 grams of dried marijuana were found in a cellophane bag hidden in the greenhouse. During the search of the other two people, heroin was found in Samir Ayvazov and 350 grams of marijuana in Sakhavat Gadirov.
A criminal case has been launched at the Balakan District Police Department, and the necessary investigation is under way.
