In 2021, 77,640 unemployed and job-seekers were provided with jobs by the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
This was stated at a meeting on the results of last year’s activities in the field of employment and the tasks ahead, the report said.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev stressed that increasing employment opportunities is an important part of President Ilham Aliyev’s socio-economic policy, noting that the expansion of active employment programs is one of the main goals in 2022.
It was noted at the meeting that 16,232 people were involved in the self-employment program last year, and their assets were provided in the areas of their choice. This is 13.6 times more than in 2017, when the program was launched.
Also, the provision of assets to the participants of the “Employment Support in Azerbaijan” project jointly implemented by the Ministry and the World Bank has already begun. This project will be an important support for the further expansion of the self-employment program, supporting 22,000 unemployed people to start small businesses in the form of self-employment.
In 2021, the State Employment Agency involved 491 people in the co-financing program, 988 people in vocational training courses, and 1,886 people in vocational counseling services. 3,734 people received unemployment insurance payments.
The support of the families of our heroes killed in the Great Patriotic War, war invalids and participants, civilians affected by the Armenian terror, and their families was also noted. It was noted that during the post-war period, about 10,000 people belonging to these categories were supported in employment, including about 6,000 people involved in the self-employment program, and about 4,000 people were provided with jobs.
It was noted that the Agency’s Baku Vocational Training Center has recently received an ISO international certificate and is the first ISO-certified vocational training institution in the country.
One of the main priorities of the meeting was the establishment and improvement of the quality of the digital platform of employment services, the work done to further expand active employment programs, and the tasks facing the State Employment Agency in 2022.
