Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed an application for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
The statement came from Deputy Chief of Staff Andrei Sibiga, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Zelensky signed a historic document – Ukraine’s application for membership in the European Union,” Sibiga said on Facebook.
The joint statement was signed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and Prime Minister Denis Shmigal.
“The documents are already on the way to Brussels! Congratulations, Ukraine, congratulations to all of us. Now history is being written! ”Sibiga added.
